Celebrating the old ways - 59th Annual Harper Frontier Days & Rodeo

This year, Harper will celebrate its cowboy roots at the 59th annual Harper Frontier Days & Rodeo at the Harper Community Park on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24. Frontier Days is a celebration of the way life used to be in this community located in the western part of Gillespie County.

The traditional small-town showdown kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday with the countywide team roping competition.

On Saturday, families can participate in a variety of activities starting at 1 p.m. like a washer toss tournament, a kids’ fishing event, live music and a “42” tournament.

A barbecue meal is set for 6 p.m. in the park, followed by a rodeo at 8 p.m., produced by the Lester Meier Rodeo Company. Visitors can get to boot scootin’ at a dance after the rodeo.

The Harper Community Park is located at the east corner of U.S. Highway 290 and North Park Street, in Harper.

Tickets are $15 per adult for the rodeo and dance and $5 for children ages 6-12. Admission is free for children under 6. Barbecue plates are $15 each.
