What to expect weather-wise in Fredericksburg

Here’s what you can expect if you plan to visit Fredericksburg and the Gillespie County area during the spring and summer months. The spring season often kicks off with a variety of weather conditions in March and April. The average date for a last freeze is typically during the last week of March but has occasionally occurred as late as April for rural areas across the county.

March averages

The average low in Fredericksburg ranges from 42 degrees during the first week of March to 49 degrees by the final week of March.

July averages

July is usually the hottest month of the year, along with August.

The average high is 92 degrees on July 1 and it continues to slowly warm to 95 degrees by July 31.

The average low is 70 degrees on July 1 and holds steady at 71 by July 31.

July’s average precipitation is 1.88” and is dependent on daytime heating fueling isolated storms in the afternoon.

August averages

August begins to show signs of slightly cooler average temperatures by the end of the month, but it remains hot.

Our average high of 95 early in the month drops to 92 by the end of the month.

The average low remains in the upper 60s and lower 70s all month long.

Tropical systems occasionally move in during August, resulting in a slightly higher rainfall average of 2.42” during the month.
