Stonewall celebrates its peaches with the annual JAMboree and rodeo

Every summer, crowds gather in Stonewall on the third full weekend of June to attend the Peach JAMboree, an event that will celebrate its 63rd year in 2023. This year’s event will take place Thursday through Saturday, June 15-17.

The Stonewall Chamber of Commerce organizes the event annually at the Stonewall Chamber of Commerce grounds at 250 Peach Street, Stonewall.

This year, Thursday activities will include a free slack rodeo and a live dance with music by the The Wagon Aces.

Friday activities will begin at 6 p.m. when the doors open, and will include mutton bustin’ and a calf scramble, along with the CPRA Rodeo by DVS Productions. A dance with live music will be held at 10 p.m. until the grounds close at midnight.

Saturday morning will feature the traditional parade to begin at Stonewall Elementary School at 10 a.m. Saturday activities will include baking, preserves and salsa contests, rodeo competitions, the Peach Patch kid’s area at Stonewall Elementary School, a lunch barbecue sale by St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, live music, a domino tournament, washer pitching tournament, peach show judging, peach eating contest, and interviews with the queen contestants.

The festival will wrap up on Saturday night with more mutton bustin’ and a calf scramble, the CPRA Rodeo, and the coronation of the Peach Queen and Court. Following the rodeo, a dance will take place with special live music. The dance will conclude with a DJ until the grounds close at 2 a.m.

Parking for the Friday and Saturday activities can be found behind Stonewall Elementary School.

Admission is free during daytime activities, but an admission fee will be charged for the rodeo and dance after 6 p.m.

During the weekend event, fresh peaches, peach cobbler and peach ice cream will be sold on the grounds. Peaches are sold individually. Typical carnival fare can also be purchased from several on-site vendors.

Beverage sales during the weekend will include beer, wine, soda and water. Drink tickets must be purchased at the ticket windows. Vendors will provide additional specialty drinks.

Proceeds of the Peach JAMboree will benefit the Stonewall Chamber of Commerce.
