Fredericksburg Theater Company’s 27th season is currently underway with upcoming performances of four main stage productions and five special events.

The Fredericksburg Theater Company opened up their 27th season with the production of “Annie Get Your Gun”. All performances are at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, 1668 U.S. 87 South.

Along with its productions, FTC also offers youth and adult classes through its Fredericksburg Theater Academy.

Tickets go on sale a full two weeks prior to opening night at the FTC Box Office, located at the theater. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the FTC office at 888-669-7114 or online at fredericksburgtheater.org.

Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.

All main stage productions are on weekends, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances at 2 p.m.

Main Stage Productions

The 27th season opened with “Annie Get Your Gun” in June and continued with “The Spongebob Musical,” a Fredericksburg Theater Academy (FTA) production, in July and “Ring of Fire” in August, highlighting the music of Johnny Cash.

“The Heiress”

Oct. 20-29, 2023 The Heiress is a story of love and betrayal set in 1850s New York. Catherine, a young woman who stands to inherit her father’s large fortune, falls in love when she meets Morris, who gives her the love and affection her father doesn’t, and which she desperately needs. Based on the classic Henry James novel Washington Square, The Heiress was also made into an Oscar-winning film. (Rated PG)

“Plaid Tidings”

Dec. 8-17, 2023 The Plaids are back in an all-new holiday show filled with Christmas standards that have all been “Plaiderized.” This holiday treat will lift audiences’ spirits and fill them with nostalgia for a bygone era of classic music sung in perfect harmony. (Rated PG)

“How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”

Feb. 9-25, 2024 Big business means big laughs in this delightfully clever lampoon of life on the corporate ladder. A tunefilled comic gem that took Broadway by storm, winning both the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize, this musical boasts an exhilarating score by Frank Loesser. (Rated PG-13)

“The Sweet Delilah Swim Club”

April 12-21, 2024 Five southern women whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartee, to get through the challenges that life flings at them. (Rated PG) The 27th season features five special events with a variety of performances.

Special Events

The Fourth Annual Texas Hill Country Cowboy Gathering is returning and planned for Nov. 3-4.

“The American Soldier” is a one-man show paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of military veterans. The show is Nov. 10, 11 and 12.

FTA will present “Elf Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1819 at 2 p.m.

“God’s Megaphone: A Visit with C.S. Lewis”

will show at 7:30 p.m. March 8-9 and at 2 p.m. March 10.

Lastly “James and the Giant Peach” will show on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on May 5.

About FTC

The mission of the Fredericksburg Theater Company (FTC) is “to provide superior theatrical programs for regional participation which entertain, educate, enrich and inspire.”

Formed in 1997 by Jeryl Hoover, the theater has grown to an audience of over 13,000 annually.

All performances are held at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater.

FTC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It has received statewide recognition from Texas Commission on the Arts, Texas Nonprofit Theatres, as well as grants from various arts endowment organizations.

FTC has been recognized as recognition as the Theater of the Decade (2010-2020) in the San Antonio region by BroadwayWorld.com Awards.

Most of FTC’s funding is from private donations, but the theater also receives grants and corporate donations.

A Season Flex Pass is $145 and includes six tickets that can be used as chosen throughout the theater season. They cannot be used for special events and they expire at the end of the season.

Donation levels begin at $250 with the Performer level and also include Director ($1,000), Composer ($1,750), Playwright ($2,500), Producer ($5,000), Executive Producer ($7,500) and Tony Award ($10,000).

Each level of support comes with tickets, recognition, and other special features.
