Fredericksburg’s famed Marktplatz will be lit up each night during the holiday season. From Tuesday, Nov. 21, to Sunday, Jan. 7, visitors and residents will be able to experience an event that will include traditional holiday music and a history of the town’s 26-foot German Christmas Pyramid and Christmas tree.
A 10-minute audio program telling the history of Fredericksburg’s German heritage and holiday carols will conclude with a grand finale countdown to the illumination of all the lights on Marktplatz. The event will begin each night at 6 p.m.
The program will not occur the evening of the Christmas parade, Dec. 1, or on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
This event is very popular among both locals and visitors, alike. The combination of the town’s German history and Christmas spirit creates a magical atmosphere in and around Marktplatz.
Plans are still being finalized for the event, so be sure to check visitfredericksburgtx.com or fredericksburgstandard.com to stay up to date. More information is also available by calling the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau at 830-997-6523.
